I just signed up and am glad there is someplace I can come and ask for some help with my Norton products. The cause of my problem seems to be a large number of bad sectors on one of my Velicoraptors. RMA drive should arrive today -- we'll see if that resolves the problem. So is there any consistency to this problem or not?
Is it just some bad drives? I'm interested to know if this has been solved or not if it's not random bad drives. Nope, I have been through 5 drives.

However, Intel R cannot guarantee one hundred percent compatibility with all the hardware out in the market. From our side, we can only recommend that you update the firmware on the drives and contact the drives manufacturer to inquire for any fix or possible workaround.

I have logged a call there and are waiting for a response. I will post here when they get back to me. Would this be my issues I am having here: New Drive came back from RMA. I now have 3 GB raptors.
No combination of drives works in Raid any type with write back cache enabled. I've also experimented with different volume sizes. Its fast, but too small to be of use. With WBC disabled, performance seems to be highly dependant on chuck size.

So far 32k Asus Rampage III Extreme IMSM to be the best size, but I'm still looking into. Also, my 2x 36GB raptors that are as old as dirt are working great on the same system, even with WBC enabled I think I'll cross out a Velociraptor for my new build Hey mate, don't write it off, because if you simply set them in the bios as "IDE mode" only, they work fine. Anoy other modes cause massive problems though. Unfortunately, there is no fix. I ordered a Highpoint Raid card to replace the Intel controller.
