- Shuttle gives its media centre offering a Vista makeover
The version we're reviewing comes with a fairly substantial GB drive, but slotting in a higher capacity drive in the future is easier than it would be on most desktops. All you have to do is unscrew the under panel and you have direct access to the drive.
There are also five USB 2. The wireless network adapter is another bonus, making Internet connection and streaming from other networked computers Shuttle X200 Wireless LAN your home a joyously wireless experience. The included 2GB RAM also keeps the X's head above water, especially when you've got the memory-hungry monster that is the Vista OS sitting predator-like on the hard drive.

The X is quite a mixed bag. Realistically, you're going to want the Core 2 Duo upgrade if you've got a large screen high-def TV, not the limping T that this machine comes with. And slinky it most definitely is.
We love the appearance Shuttle X200 Wireless LAN Shuttle's latest mini media centre and having this fully functional PC sitting alongside your swanky living room entertainment system is unlikely to ruin the feng shui. It was targeted at such a niche segment that it had an equal chance of being a hit and a miss, especially when there are more mainstream and user-friendly alternatives available, notably the Apple Mac Mini.
Shuttle X200 Wireless LAN The XPC X is arguably even more of a specialist. The inclusion of a hybrid radio and television tuner further enhances its media center capabilities. Personally, we think that's a fine move as going niche is the only way forward for these types of products.
Take note though these are optional components including the Wireless LAN module and IR receiver but the X is designed with them in mind and there are various configuration options Shuttle X200 Wireless LAN depending on the vendor carrying it. The end result is that the XPC X performs much slower than its predecessor in graphical applications and in some HD video clips. Shuttle has at least ensured that the eye candy on Windows Vista can still be experienced with the Intel onboard graphics but we don't recommend trying any modern 3D games on this machine.
Still, the X is quite decent overall and it certainly fulfilled the quiet quotient. For sure, not everyone will warm immediately to its appearance, but it will bring back pangs of nostalgia to some.
Shuttle XPC Mini X review TechRadar
We certainly didn't mind Shuttle X200 Wireless LAN Shuttle has persisted with this design. If you can remember, the original X can be placed either standing or lying flat. The design of the heat pipe cooler used internally means that there is only one correct upright orientation for the X and that is also the case for the X Of course, this direction is clearly marked at the bottom of the unit.
The front panel of the XPC X looks almost exactly the same too. Shuttle XPC mini X sets a new standard.
